Any interested reader can find the pre-conversion Hindu names of Aldona's gaunkars in ANNEX VIII: Gaunkar name-changes of my book The Last Prabhu, second revised edition, that can be ordered from amazon.com in paperback and eBook (Kindle) formats. The paperback is also available from Book Depository. Readers in India can order the paperback version from Book Depository as well as pothi.com
Dear Professor, I have recently come across this post and would be quite interested in seeing this list of pre-conversion names of Aldona's gaunkars. Please do direct me as to how I can read this. I am interested in potentially pursuing a research in related areas, and it would be of great help and interest to me. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteDear Doctor,
ReplyDeleteWhile it is true that some articles may be of more interest to some than others to different people, that does not mean that a lack of a comment means anything about the level of interest in the article.Commenting is often a somewhat inconvenient thing to do especially for people who are somewhat reserved or even just the act of having to sign in or compose a grammatically correct , cogent response is too much for them. Some people who are increasingly pressed for time or just plain lazy and maybe such people do not deserve the effort you take into researching and writing the many posts, but for all of those there are/will be others (however few in number and maybe even decades from now) who will sincerely seek out such information and your book may have gone out of print or may not be available.I say this from personal experience-I have been running from pillar to post for so many books (History of the Dakshinatya Saraswats-V N Kudva, the Sahyadri Khanda ,Goykaranchi goyanbhayli vasnuk etc)to no avail.I can only scavenge the internet for any bits of info from these books..and when push comes to shove, its your blog .You are putting out content for your own creative satisfaction-what others think shouldn’t matter.I urge you to reinstate the page.
The information provided on your log is most interesting and informative…your info about the interessados and the two kinds of assemblies as also how one share of the communidade ended up with a Xet Gauncar are all EXTREMELY informative and interesting..so also the mention of how the Gauncars of Moira were helped by those of Aldona to construct bunds is also a very rare glimpse into the lives of the people of those times an how they co operated.
Affectionately (sending a nephewlike virtual hug),
Siddharth (Shenoy)
